The Story of Mashrek
Established in 1992, Mashrek International School emerged from the vision of devoted educators determined to redefine learning in Jordan and the region. With a foundation built on academic distinction, global citizenship, and the preservation of Arab identity, Mashrek opened its doors to 172 students and 28 passionate educators.
Today, that bold beginning stands as the cornerstone of one of the region’s most influential and forward-thinking IB institutions, recognized for its innovation, internationalism, and unwavering commitment to educational excellence. Over three decades, Mashrek has grown in size, impact, and distinction. Currently, it stands as a private, bilingual, co-educational IB World School recognized by the Jordanian Ministry of Education, accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), and widely considered one of the leading schools in Jordan and the Middle East. Governed by an experienced board from diverse fields, including education, finance, IT, and business development, Mashrek continues to guide learning with strategic insight and a future-focused lens.
As Mashrek expanded, so did its vision. In 2004, the school relocated to Dabouq to accommodate rising enrollment and enhance student experiences with spacious, purpose-built learning environments. Further expansions in 2007, 2018, and 2021 resulted in state-of-the-art facilities that support open-space pedagogy, personalized learning, and innovative academic practices. These developments reflect Mashrek’s enduring commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.
At present, Mashrek proudly hosts over 2,020 students representing more than 26 nationalities. Diversity, inclusion, and equity remain foundational, ensuring every learner is known, supported, and empowered. The school admits students based on ability, readiness, and the belief that Mashrek can honor their unique needs, gifts, and pathways.
