Leading Through Innovation - School Principal's Letter
Letter from the School Principal
Dear Parents,
For over four decades, my journey in education has been shaped by an unwavering belief in human potential. I began my career teaching children with learning challenges — a chapter that taught me that progress is not accidental, and opportunity is not exclusive. Instead, both flourish when we trust in the innate capabilities of every learner. Schools, at their core, are not only institutions of academics; they are spaces where futures are shaped, identities are nurtured, and each child’s unique story unfolds.
With this conviction, and together with my partner and co-founder, the late Mr. Bassam Malhas, Mashrek was established in 1992 with a simple yet profound vision: to deliver a world-class education while honoring our cultural identity and celebrating diversity. We envisioned a school that cultivates inquiry, empathy, bilingualism, global understanding, and personalized growth — a place where students are inspired to lead with intellect, heart, and purpose.
From our first scholastic year in 1993/1994, welcoming 172 learners and 28 educators, to today — a thriving learning community of 2020 students representing 26 nationalities — Mashrek’s journey has been one of growth, transformation, and collective belief. Each relocation, each expansion, each accreditation, and each new programme reflected a step forward toward the promise we made: to provide excellence in education and to maximize every learner’s potential.
Our vision continues to be more than words. It is built into the spaces our children occupy — open, collaborative, flexible environments that encourage exploration and agency. Through our Open-Space Learning approach, regrouping methodologies, and commitment to inclusion and personalized pathways, we continue to push beyond traditional models, ensuring that every child is seen, supported, and challenged.
Becoming the first IB continuum school in Jordan offering PYP, MYP, and DP, earning CIS accreditation, and developing a campus that grows with our learners are not merely institutional milestones — they are shared accomplishments. They represent dedication, trust, and the spirit of a community that chose to believe in growth over comfort and in purpose over simplicity.
Mashrek today is a place of belonging, aspiration, and innovation. A place where diversity is celebrated, voices are heard, and learners are empowered to imagine futures that go beyond walls and beyond borders. We remain committed to leading educational transformation in Jordan and beyond — not only for our students, but for every community we collaborate with, every educator we inspire, and every learner who walks through our doors.
To our teachers, staff, students, and families — thank you for being the heart of this journey. Your belief, compassion, and dedication are what turn vision into reality and mission into impact.
Together, we will continue to envision, innovate, and elevate.
